I generally do not do New Year's Resolutions. At least, not since I was in high school.
Instead, I choose to look at January as a chance at a fresh start, not because of the new year, but rather because it is the end of the party season for my family.
We have 3 birthdays, plus, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's between October and December! Talk about Attack of the Leftovers! January is the start of a nice stretch of two months with zero events (aside from Valentine's Day, and Fat Tuesday, which we celebrate as one day events only). So, with all of the junk out of the house, it's time to hit the diet trail!
This year though, I'm doing something different.
Two years ago, I had just realized I needed to become dairy free, due to the reactions my body was having from consuming it. I also happened to be in-between boyfriends at the time. So, I figured there was no better time than then to begin a new life journey. For two months, I followed my new plan, and rocked it! I felt healthy and glowing, and even better, I lost FIFTEEN pounds those two months, WITHOUT calorie counting!
...And then I met someone and began dating again. And gradually fell more and more away from my plan until I was not following it at all. After the break up, I went completely off the rails, and gained all of my weight back, plus, I gained my weight loss from before.
So here I sit, at my heaviest and unhealthiest ever.
In the past year, I have at least learned that taking an anti-inflammatory approach has helped slow down the weight gain, controlled my bloating, and eased my aches and pains. Along with my three years of research from a different health condition I have, I now feel prepared to re-embark on my journey again and take my life back!
Based on a dairy free approach, along with eating anti-inflammatory foods, and tying in other healthy living tips I've learned, I developed this plan below.
This is nearly identical to my plan from two years ago, and I'm VERY excited to start back on it. I will be cooking all day Sunday; I've already chosen my recipes to cook, so I just need to make them now! I'll add my meals I've chosen shortly.
Til then,
XOX Margie
